I have a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where I specialized in film making, but with a focus of coursework on various studio art practices and Art History. After graduation, I spent several years working in retail visuals and art department fabrication before focusing on my own art and opening my own studio in 2015.
My work is heavily influenced by my love of set design in Film and TV, and the subjects are object-focused. My mother is a retired seamstress, and I have always been around textiles and embellishments. My early influences of going antiquing in rural Pennsylvania is largely reflected in my body of work.
If I am working on a large scale painting, I prefer to use upholstery fabric, natural paper, or found materials. I gather my inspiration from patterns and tend to produce my work with several layers of texture - but all are usually water-based. I like to make my work at night, and am not really a morning person.
